Smartphones : Apple vs Samsung vs One plus vs Xiomi vs Oppo vs Nokia Lumia

High Speed

The above graph reflects the achievements done in most useful hardware in a smartphone.
The cores 10, 8, 4 represents deca, octal and quad cores respectively.

Xiomi and One plus trying to achieve speed through different ways. Xiomi improved deca core processor whereas one plus improved 8 GB RAM. Let's say, you have a phone with 8 GB of RAM and a single core processor. You can't expect it beat a phone in performance which has 2 GB of RAM and a quad-core processor. Even though you have large amounts of apps and app data ready to be processed, the slower CPU just can't finish the task fast enough, so the slower CPU is the bottle neck here. So we need a valid proportion of both Core processor and RAM.

AnTuTu is a popular speed test software. The speeds scores of top smartphones given below.
It seems One Plus on the right path, It has one of the most scored smartphones in AnTuTu test.  Samsung S8 and iPhone 7 plus and One Plus 3T scored 205284, 181807 and 162423 respectively. Even though Samsung and iPhone don't have top hardware like deca core and 8 GB RAM it scored top. The reason behind is the strong software. The real competitor of S8 is iPhone so let's wait and see how iPhone will take the challenge

The game started with Japanese J-SH04 mobile. It's the world's first ever camera mobile built ever with 0.11MP. The innovation turned the way of mobiles. Now more than 80% of mobiles or smartphones with camera selling across the world. Nokia and Samsung carry it further and produced the best camera's on their timeline with 5MP and so on. At present we have Nokia Lumia 1020 with 41MP camera highest of its kind. Samsung produced it's the best camera with S6 and with 16 MP but it reduced again to 12 MP in S7 smartphone.  On an average, all other smartphones are offering 16 MP camera to their customers.

Obviously, pixel growth stopped, other than Nokia Lumia no other phone tried to reach even 20 MP. The hidden reason is that "it's not only important to capture the image information, but also the quality". The photography things like camera sensor, post-processing quality also important. It seems everybody looking at these types of machine learning things instead of achieving highest pixels.

Operating Systems
Thanks to Android which helps to reach the mass population in the world. The penetration from 2009 to 2016 (4% to 84%) is incredible. The tie up with largest mobile market share company Samsung and high concentration on most populated countries helped Google to reach high in a very short span of time.

How trust works!
I must mention a significant point here. Steve Jobs resigned in 2011 August as Apple Inc. CEO and all other responsibilities. We can observe the degrowth of iOS from 2012 onward's.
Simultaneously, if we look at STATISTA reports, the growth rate is 48% from 2010 to 2011, but its come down to -9.13% in 2016. Might be several factors acting on the point but I think the biggest factor is the trust on Steve Jobs and innovation growth.

Windows OS offered significant features to customers a beautiful UI and high pixel camera's but never seen growth in the Industry as Android dominated from the beginning. The factors might be late OS implementations available in fewer smartphones.

Smartphone penetration and its Market

Newzoo's Global Mobile Market Report

The smartphone market is so huge across the globe. It covered almost 42% of the overall population in the globe. Out of 7 billion population across the world, it penetrated into 3.1 billion. In coming years we can expect the rapid growth too. China, India, US, Brazil, and Russian Federation countries are in the top in smartphone usage but China and India still need huge penetration as the population is huge. Samsung scores first in market share (23.3%), whereas apple (14.7%), Huawei (10%), Oppo (7.5%), Vivo (5.5%) are in next consecutively.

There is an interesting point to observe here, even though Samsung acquired the first position in market share, it never beat the apple in revenue perspectives. In 2016, both are neck and neck in terms of sales, but Apple made revenue roughly twice as much revenue from mobile devices. This despite the fact that Samsung sold more than 30 devices, whereas Apple sold just three.

In India, the penetration is only 22%, according to TRAI report we can expect 50% growth of smartphones by 2020 due to the reduction in the cost of the smartphone products. In 2014, it contributed 6.1% to overall GDP growth of India which cost 8 lac crores.
