Rally for Rivers - It's our Need

Our rivers are depleting. By 2030 we will have only 50% of the water we need. 25% of water is turning into desert. To avoid this brutal future, Sadhguru called "Rally for rivers"!. They explained it as "This is not a protest, instead, it's a campaign to raise awareness that our rivers are depleting". About participation, they said any person who consumes water must rally for rivers. You can visit rallyforrivers.org or can give a missed call to 80009 80009.

It's a rally personally called by Sadhguru in 16 states across India. It's to create awareness in the country that our rivers are dying. Madhyapradesh responded first to the call, now it's a wild fire across India!.

Interview conversation between Sadhguru and Children:

Sadhguru: (To one of the Children) How old are you?. asked with a smile

Child: Ten. replied with a very low voice

Sadhguru: hmm!

Child: Ten. replied loudly

Sadhguru: By 2030 how old will you be?. asked with the intention to make them aware of the brutal future

Child: Twenty four. replied spontaneously

Sadhguru: 24, When you become 24 years of age in India only 50% of the water that we need for everybody survival will be there!. When you feel thirsty is it nice?

Children: No!

Then Sadhguru started explaining the whole situation to the bunch of little cute kids.

Sadhguru: "But it's beginning to happen. Nearly 40% of the river water is gone and they expect that in another 20 years time 60% of it will be gone. Many rivers which are flowing for thousands of years, Now are flowing only in the rainy season." 

Cherishing their times with rivers they said,  "I must tell you from the age of 12-17 every day I swam in Kaveri and when I was 17 I rafted down Kaveri 163KM for over 12 to 13 days. It was such an incredible experience, but today if you go to Kaveri and try to raft you will get stuck in some rocks because there is not enough water." 

Speaking about the natures relations they said "This must be understood clearly, people think because of water there are trees. No, because of trees there is water, this is one thing you must understand. So, to get these rivers back we want to do one thing."

Explaining rally for rivers they said, "that we wanna make sure on the river sides, at least one KM on both sides there are trees if it is government lane forests if it is farmers land horticulture and other tree based farming." 

About the role of people, they said, "This means all of us should commit to consume at least 30% of our diet as fruits if 30% of our diet comes from trees i.e when the farmer can grow it and sell fruits to us. So we are planning all these entire schemes of how to save the rivers. 

They actually want to keep the happiness of them to their future too. they said "After 100 years when you become old people our rivers must be still flowing as it was flowing when I was a child. I wanted to see that."

Explaining the role of role and politics politely they said, "If this has to happen we need resolute political policies. They want to do the policy but all of us people must support. The democracy means what all of us should support only then they can do it, isn't it? So one thing I want you to do is we will write a letter to the prime minister, from the school you write but if you want to write your own letter also you can write. What goes on the school all of you put your signatures okay. Why are we sending this? Not to prejudice him but to tell him for whatever action he has to take we are all with him, supporting him. hmm that's what democracy means, isn't it? Unless all of us support him, can he do anything useful? So we must support that's why rally for rivers. shall we? so in the process of support, we were talking just about a missed call. Sadhguru: Yes! we have to make sure that they will give a missed call. You know what's the number, tell me?

Sadhguru: Will you make sure your parents, their friends, and their friends every body who consumes water must make the call. hah. Those who don't drink water we leave them!

Children: Laugh

Sadhguru: Every body who drinks water must support rally for rivers isn't it?. Shall we make this happen?

Children: Yeeeeeees!

Sadhguru: Yeeeeeees! will it happen like that you must roar like a river hah! otherwise, a dried up rivers Yeeeeees!. Like a river coming with full force, Shall we make this happen?

Children: Yesssssssss! replied with joy.

Rivers have been the life line of this nation and of every nation in a way. We are a culture or civilization which grew out of a river bank. all of our rivers in India are at the dangerous level of depletion. India's rivers, the nation's lifeblood, are facing an alarming crisis.
