Is Artificial Intelligence (ai) Over-hyped?

Are the rumors about AI true?

     Great people like Putin, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are spreading open speeches that we must be careful about the emerging ai. Putin says "the country which achieves ai first will be the world leader". Elon Musk says "Artificial Intelligence force government for basic income".

     There is a new type of fear called Robo-phobia spreading across the world because of the technology. This year even Vishal Sikka, Ex - CEO of Infosys said like Moore's statement is going to change. Almost 75% of jobs will go off because of automation. Business analysts said like we must redesign our organizations from the foundation level.

     Is the technology really going to change the world? Why great people speaking about technology? Why ai is dangerous? a lot of questions needs to be answered.

What is the capacity of AI?

     In an interview, Melanie Warrick who has been working in Google said that "the technology has been overhyped a lot. Currently, ai has narrow intelligence instead of general consciousness". When they said Narrow intelligence, it means the machine can think what we feed to it. Still, evolution is necessary for them to think like humans.

     AlphaGo a Deep-mind (Part of Google) player won the Go game with the experts. It reached to the intelligence where people not yet reached. They made by training the machine again and again. They provided the required guide about the game to the machine AlphaGo. They made two AlphaGo players play themselves. 

     With the machine learning, AlphaGo learned to play as early as possible. Professionals loved the machine which is playing the game like a god!. But there is one thing to observe, it cannot play chess. Only if we feed the rules then it can play, there is no other way. That's why they called it narrow intelligence.

     Up to now, we have a machine which can learn. They need food like big data & algorithms and support technologies like machine learning. But we are assuming that machines can do everything they want. But there are chances to prepare it!.

Can we expect Robots to act like Humans?

     We can expect Robots which look like humans but to act like humans needs time to judge. Currently, we have a self-balancing robot which can pick up a parcel and can able to recollect if it dropped on the road. There are many organizations using robots for its work. Amazon using amazon prime to deliver the parcel to its customers within 20 minutes!.

     Still, we need to improve machines which can able to communicate with humans naturally. The natural conversation is the trending technology. The software like Siri, Google assistant etc are examples. Even though machines understanding our voice better, the reply still feels robotic.

     I think this decade we might not get a machine which acts like a human. Even we prepared it we must be able to control it for human welfare. The open source collection of ML-like Tensorflow might help to build a robot with IOT, Bigdata and other technologies. We must wait and see how innovation happens.
