Why Electric Vehicles Are Not Attracting It's Customers?
EV's are the biggest solution to the global warming. Why we are not accepting it?
They are very costly, aren't they?
The first and foremost thing that customer needs a high-quality product at a reasonably low price. Mahindra and Mahindra slash the price of e2o the only available electric vehicle from India. The price has been reduced from 5.71 lakhs to 4.79 lakhs. If you purchase the car they will help you with installing charging port at your home and workplace. Also, arranges are made for a quick charge which takes nearly an hour.
Tesla Model S costs more than Fords Endeavor. Tesla Model S costs 35-40 lakh in India which set a record of 1078 Km travel on a single charge which lasts for 29 hours. Recently Elon Musk tweeted about PAN-India Electric charge network where he wants to build soon to attract masses.
Other than Tesla all other car makers like Benz, Toyota, Nissan, Renault etc everybody started EV's manufacturing with fewer models.
Tesla charge stations work really well. A Tesla car run 150 km in 15 mins charge!. They are improving its efficiency year by year. If you purchase Tesla car, you must spend at least 300-350 rupees for a single charge which runs up to 320 km assuming that you don't have the solar powered charger.
So to reduce the charge cost Tesla supercharge network helps. Right now the cost varies from 0.15 to 0.20 kWh from place to place in U.S. But it will take time in India to penetrate the large network.
Lack of Models
Everybody wants to purchase their dream car. The shape of the car has the huge impact here. But for EV's we have very limited models. Only Tesla came up with better ones. Benz, BMW and other luxury car makers also have a few models.
Since the sales of the oil-based car going well everybody is showing less interest in EV making. But the only factor that makes them concentrating on EV's is future. Tesla became successful in creating a brand of only EV's and attracting customers towards EV's.
They achieved it with the high number of supercar models and other cost-saving ideas. They came up with beautiful car look and outstanding customer experience in EVs which made customers love the car.
Two Wheelers
Two wheelers have not yet even looking at best EV manufacturing. Even though hero came up with the low-cost vehicle it lacks customer satisfaction. Ather the new start-up of Electric two-wheelers are not raising its voice over oil based vehicles. Again two-wheelers also lack the number of models which can fit into every individual.
The Central Government move towards EV's drive
Since we avail a lot of electrical energy in future through solar panels Government trying to push EV's in the market. They already procured low tax facility to buyers and offering the subsidy to have solar energy at your home which helps to get the charge. They were targeting 5-6 million EV's on road by 2020.
For this Ola already started to implement complete electrical transportation system from rikshaw's, cars to busses. Ola already started it in Nagpur, the city is the first in India to become complete electric. It will result in a sudden dip in CO2 emissions and it has other eco-friendly significance in it.
The company soon starts to expand electric vehicles to other metro cities one by one. They invested 50 Cr in building up charging points in Nagpur. We have to wait and watch how it goes in other cities.
